I also think that individual changes, or individual awakenings are the fundamental building blocks of a global consciousness movement. It is wonderful to know and to feel there are people who are searching for personal inner changes in order to bring changes in the outer world. We can find answers to live a more fulfilling and purposeful life only within us, as you say in the article We The Change must begin with I The Change. I balanced it's twig on the branches of a potted plant, moved it into the shelter of the entrance steps and covered it with a plastic bag to protect it from frost and curious kittens. When temperatures warmed, I set it in the sun, changing it's location according to the weather. After the lime green chrysalis "shell" softened and turned black, it became more transparent and I could see faint evidence of orange patterns forming inside. I left it in the sun at 1 PM yesterday, and when I returned at 5, a Monarch was hanging from the twig. Rain and windstorms were approaching, so I moved it to a sheltered area. This morning it remained still, but now it's moving it's wings & is likely to attract a kitten, so I've covered it, as it's still stormy. Last week several people I work with talked about recent events that were having profound impacts on their lives. As I listened and helped them "be" with themselves in the midst of their chaos, I also held the image of what was happening just outside the door. The skin on a caterpillar had formed a shell to protect it while it allowed itself to literally dissolve into "butterfly goo" and re-configure itself into a butterfly. Most of us are only familiar with the Hallmark version of transformation from chrysalis to butterfly. As we go through chaotic times on personal, national and planetary levels, I find it helpful to remember the importance of caring for and protecting ourselves, and surrounding ourselves with trusty helpers while we're in the goo. I hope the Monarch will wait a few days for gentle weather before it tries to fly.
